He asked Lahore division commissioner to ensure delivery of only high-quality fuel in the city while presiding over an anti-smog committee meeting at the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) head office on Tuesday.
He also told concerned officials to ask Euro-2 gasoline producers to improve their equipment.

The minister ordered the closure of factories that did not have scrubbers and threatened those who refused to comply with the order with severe legal consequences. He emphasise that there will be no exceptions for any industrial unit that burns tyres, rubber, or plastic. That the local administration will ensure that smog-related limitations are strictly enforced in the city.

The transfer of brick kilns to new zigzag technology and the closing of obsolete brick kilns will be the responsibility of the Punjab Relief Commissioner, according to Bakht.

According to Minister of Punjab:

He also directed concerned officials to develop a long-term strategy to reduce smog and pollution in the city. To discourage the usage of private transportation, the government will encourage commuters and students to use public transportation. He urged residents with several vehicles to reduce their use of them willingly.
He also ask the provincial transportation agency to ensure that smoke-control systems are put on all vehicles, and that automobile manufacturers be included in this process.
On Tuesday, the atmosphere in Lahore remained’very unhealthy’ for the fourth day in a row, with a US Air Quality Index rating of above 200 points.
Environmental scientists warn that PM2.5 levels in Lahore’s air are currently 30.8 times higher than the WHO annual air quality guideline value, posing a serious health risk to both humans and animals.
Citizens have been encouraged by medical and health specialists to wear facemasks and eyewear in open locations and to avoid needless visits to open areas.
