One Man Arrested as the Outrage Grows
Karachi: One suspect has been arrested by Sindh Police accused in the gang-rape of a woman and her year-old daughter in the Kashmore district. One man arrested out of two was identified as Rafiq Malik by the police. They lured the Karachi resident with an employment promise in the Kashmore district where the brutal act took place, according to the reports.
The accused has confessed to the crime and kidnapping and a rape case has been registered in Kashmore police station.
The daughter and her mother were subsequently sold off to some buyers after being gang-raped multiple times where the police recovered the victim duo in a critical state, according to another report. The Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail has also taken notice of the incident ordering an immediate report. He also has talked with the province’s chief secretary and police officials.
“The Kashmore incident is very painful. The accused involved in the incident should be arrested as soon as possible and punished,” said the governor.
Other reports suggest the woman was asked to come to Karachi for a job but when she arrived there with her daughter, the assaulters gang-raped them and left them there for dead.

Minister of Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari also took notice of the incident and called the government and asked for “strict enforcement of the law”.
