Pakistan has the second-highest average mobile broadband speeds in South Asia, according to this study. The PTA states that Pakistan is the only Asian nation in the region with the second-highest average mobile broadband speed.
As of November 2022, Pakistan ranked 114th for mobile speeds and 150th for fixed broadband speeds based on data collected in 2022.
Our investigation reveals that Pakistan’s average mobile broadband download speed is 20.84 Mbps, significantly faster than that of other countries in the region.
In India, for instance, the average download speed for mobile broadband is 19.57 Mbps. Bangladesh has 16.33 Mbps. Additionally, with an average mobile broadband speed of 20.90 Mbps, Sri Lanka leads South Asia.
In addition, Nepal has an average broadband speed of 20.60 Mbps. On the other hand, it is somewhat lower than Pakistan. However, 3G and 4G mobile signals are now available to 78% and 75%, respectively, of Pakistan’s population. Currently, 78% and 75% of Pakistan’s population are served by 3G and 4G cellular signals. The organization asserts that Pakistan’s data costs have decreased from 1GB to 0.58 percent of its gross national income per capita.
According to the document, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and the Prime Minister’s Office also set a goal of 51% broadband penetration by June 2022.
Additionally, our objective includes 55% by June 2023. In the meantime, the institution is doing well, and in July 2022, 55% of the population had access to broadband.
Unfortunately, average broadband speeds of close to 30 Mbps have been set for 2025. In addition, the aforementioned policy calls for a 50 percent reduction in the average price per gigabyte by 2025.
