Abida has been awarded both the ‘Pride of Performance’ And the ‘Sitara-e-Imtiaz‘ by the Government of Pakistan.

Although Abida Parveen is one of the foremost exponents of Sufi music from Pakistan. She first learned music from her father Ustad Ghulam Haider.
Abida has a wide-ranging repertoire of songs originally composed by Sufi poets. She has sung in almost all languages. songs include mainly ghazals, Urdu love tracks. her forte, Kafis, a classical form of Sufi poetry. Some of her hits are ‘Duma Dum Mast Qalandar’, ‘Terry Ishaq Nachaya’. Likewise ‘Latthe Di Chadar’, ‘Kuch Is Ada Se Aaj’ and ‘Kaftan Bulleh Shah’.
Parveen sings in Urdu, Sindhi, Saraiki, Punjabi, Arabic and Persian. In 2017, she was designated a ‘Peace Ambassador’ by SAARC. She is among The 500 Most Influential Muslims of the world and is a “Global Mystic Sufi Ambassador”.
Parveen is best known for singing in an impassioned, loud voice and rendition of poetry. She received Pakistan’s second highest civilian awards Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2012.

Civil Awards 2021:
President Dr Arif Alvi has conferred Pakistan civil awards on prominent personalities. including foreign nationals in recognition of their services in different fields.
The president bestowed Nishan-e-Imtiaz on Sadeqain Naqvi, Prof Shakir Ali, Zahoorul Haq, Abida Parveen Arts. Dr. Jameel Jalibi and Ahmad Faraz. According to an official statement.
Governor Sarwar greeted the award winners, Meanwhile saying that “the country beholds immense power-hubs of talents and every single person, who struggles for the sake of the country’s welfare is the real hero of the nation”.
