“I handle many female members of staff over the years and I have women at work who are bent over double because of the discomfort cause by their periods,” Muhammad Uns, CEO of Swyft, says. Despite this, they believe they are unable to return home since they do not consider themselves to be ill. And this is inequitable. This Logistics is a really understanding company. If someone is in discomfort of any type, they are advise to return home. But, for us, we need a policy in place that acknowledges and allows women to follow their bodies’. Normal cycles without being label as unwell.”
Swyft’s period policy is more than just another leave policy; it encourages women to take time off as needed and discourages a fear of discussing their bodies openly. It created to shift the workplace dialogue around bodies, forcing us to accept that we are biological machines with intricate processes and cycles, not just thinking machines.
Swyft aspires to remove stigma and end the view of menstruation as illness, in addition to establishing a workplace that is more accepting of the body’s normal cycles.
