WHITENING PRODUCTS JUST A TABOO
Yeah! You read it right, shouldn’t. Whitening products such as creams, facewash, etc shouldn’t be taboo. And why should it be? Give me a single valid reason for banning healthy whitening products. At least as a Pakistani, just don’t say that whitening creams are of no use. When we know not a single household in Pakistan doesn’t criticize people on the basis of their skin color and judge their beauty on the basis of skin tones.
Why whitening products are a need?
Society pressure:
We live in a society where people will embarrass you by calling with such disgraceful words like black beauty’ or ‘black black’ to ruin your character. And on top of all, they will spill their filth in front of others, humiliate you and say that they were joking. Joking? Seriously? There’s a huge difference between joking and mocking! And what are those words most aunties call girls by, who has a little dark tone? Oh yes, Average color tone girl…
First, you criticize them, compel them to use something for their dark complexion and when they finally start using them you want to ban it by saying “ beshaq kisi gore ko kale par aur kale ko gore par fazilat nahi”. unbelievable!
If there’s anything that should be ban is your foul mouth and nothing else.
To work in media:
Every Filmmaker and News Media Company wants a fair girl to work for them. Name any one Pakistani actress, news anchor, journalist who is ‘brown’ or who don’t use any whitening product or make-up to look ‘fair’. Like people watch news because of women and would stop seeing films/news if they don’t incorporate fair girls. Disgusting!

Everyone wants a ‘gori’ (fair) ‘bahu’ (daughter-in-law) to show-off her to the world. And ofcourse , because she will be the one giving birth to their sons child. If their bahu will be brown how will their grand-childrens will born fair. What a pathetic thinking!
Backlashing Zara Noor Abbas for working in a whitening product advertisement:
A while ago, Zara Noor Abbas Siddique a Pakistani actress was seen in an advertisement for whitening face wash. Because of which she was badly accused of promoting racism. And people came forward schooling her to which she replied:

Are we dumb or what?! Promoting whitening facewash is racism? And what do you think about your gutter mind/thinking and mouth? Huh? What you speak ill about others is equality?
Each one of us uses whitening products from a common person to an actress and when she did an advertisement everyone started schooling her for promoting whitening product when it was so obvious that it’s a need in our society. She knew this is a harmless product and won’t do any wrong. This promotes no racism but we won’t understand kyunke hum to bare jahil qism ke log hain!
If banning whitening products is right then surely every other skin product (for acne, oily skin, etc) should be ban too! Anything that adds beauty to your face should be ban. Argue with the wall!
Importance/Advantages of healthy whitening products:
Because of the hype created by the society for white and fair complexion, people who have a little dark tone become uneasy and feel uncomfortable. They think they are different, they are not beautiful or they aren’t worthy which is absolutely wrong. To boost their confidence whitening products came into being. Here are some more advantages of healthy whitening products.
LIKE:
- They start looking better and that makes them fall in love with themselves. And then, they become happy.
- They feel less insecure, anxious and depressed. They start looking fresh.
- People having low self esteem feels secure in their skin. Whitening cream works for them as a self boosting cream. Their confidence builds-up and they no longer look down on themselves.
- Whitening creams/facewash are inexpensive and effective. They are harmless unlike other whitening products like injections etc.
- They are easy to get. Go to any nearby pharmacy and there will be tons of whitening creams and facewashes in sight.
- They are easy and safer to use. Even if one wants to stop using at a certain point they can, unless like other products which you ones start using you cannot go back to not using them.
USE OR NOT TO USE WHITENING PRODUCT SHOULD BE A CHOICE:
Most of the people using these whitening products are actually fair, yet self conscious and people who are dark, are comfortable with themselves. They don’t use any product or makeup to look good. This is how things should be. This should be a choice to use or not to use whitening product or makeup.
To all women and men out there, you’re beautiful/handsome the way you are. You don’t need anyone’s acceptance to feel worthy. You’re too much more than that. Using any whitening product or any other thing should be your choice, solely your choice, not society’s pressure. Do it for yourself.
Everyone should feel secure in their skin. If these product do good to you even a little to admire yourself more or to feel secure, go for it. Don’t think about others opinion, it doesn’t matter as far as you’re comfortable with yourself.
And, we all should make other feel good about themselves. We shouldn’t bully them and offend them everytime they look a little darker. Even if they are your friends, your siblings or anyone we shouldn’t be mean to them. Let them feel comfortable around you.
