Ayesha Gull April 25, 2023

Researchers have confirmed that a 300-Million-Year-Old Creature Lived. Without Bones called an Ediacaran biota, lived without bones. This discovery challenges the assumption that bones. Are a necessary component for animals to thrive and evolve.

The Ediacaran biota is a soft-bodied organism. That lived during the Ediacaran period. Approximately 635 to 542 million years ago. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of California, Riverside. Analyzed fossils of the creature to understand its anatomy and biology.

The team found that the Ediacaran biota had a complex muscular system. That allowed it to move and feed without the need for bones. This discovery sheds light on the evolutionary path of animals. And suggests that bones may have developed later in the evolutionary timeline.

The study also suggests that soft-bodied organisms like the Ediacaran biota were able to adapt. And survive in their environment despite lacking bones.
