As the country prepares for its first manned voyage beyond Earth, India aims to build its own “very tiny” space station within the next decade. ISRO plans to launch small Space Station after 2022
K. Sivan, the head of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Stated on Thursday that the ambitious project would follow the successful launch of a manned space voyage in 2022.
Sivan told reporters in New Delhi, “Our space station would be quite modest… suitable for carrying out studies.”

He went on to say, “We don’t have a big strategy of sending humans on tourism and other things.”
A space station may house crew members for years at a time and has docking facilities for experiments and support vehicles.

India’s first man space mission, dub Gaganyaan, is set to launch in 2022. Just in time to honour the country’s 75th anniversary of independence from Britain.

On a maximum seven-day mission, it will have two or three astronauts.
The Indian statement comes a day after the government unveiled an autonomous moon lander. That is set to launch on July 15 and settle on the moon around September 6.

In recent years, the country has made huge gains in space exploration and has been a forerunner in low-cost technologies.
In 2014, it launched a mission to Mars for around $74 million, a fraction of the $671 million spent by the US space agency Nasa.
ISRO also wants to launch a mission to explore the Sun in 2020, as well as a mission to Venus in 2023.
