Taliban’s reconquest ignites the sense of fear amidst Afghans!

Hub-e-Zehra August 24, 2021

In the wake of recent times, a lot of different opinions are floating over the internet about the reconquest of Taliban. Almost after 20 years of USA’s intervention in Afghanistan, Taliban has successfully reconquered Afghanistan. On Sunday,15th August Taliban’s fighters entered Kabul and Afghanistan’s president Ashraf Ghani left the country.

Since the day of Taliban’s reconquest, the country has come under great human crisis. The Afghan cities has fallen like dominoes to the Taliban. Haunting images have been surfacing all over the Internet. Afghans have flooded the Kabul Airport. They are trying to escape the upcoming turmoil expected due to the Taliban rule. People literally flooded the rescue planes. Many tried to hung on the plane which resulted in many deaths.

While the world is coping up with the health crisis due to Covid’19, Afghans are terrified of the Taliban. The Afghans fear that the new rulers would leave the country’s future in despair. In addition, Afghans are trying to escape by struggling through crushing crowds and only some of them are able to succeed.

In 1998, Taliban imposed strict Shariah laws in Afghanistan. The Taliban made “Pardah” compulsory for women. Moreover, they did not allow the girls to go to the universities. Also, they did not even allow the girls to go anywhere without a male member.

However, this time Taliban seems to be less extreme. And it is believed that Taliban has returned back with “peace”. The reconquest of Taliban has a lot to say about the country’s future. The current situation is disrupting the lives of the Afghans. The women do not come to the markets anymore. Furthermore, the fighter jets keep flying in the skies of Afghanistan. For now, the only concern that the Afghans have is to seek safety from the Taliban.
