TV Series Review: SENSE8 (2015)

How could you possibly experience a life that you’ve never lived? But that’s not all that the show is about.

Sense8, an original Netflix production created by The Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski is about 8 strangers from different parts of the world. The cluster finds themselves connected to each other, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

TV Series Review: SENSE8 (2015)

Summary

The show follows the lives of the sensates, Nomi Marks, Wolfgang, Lito Rodriguez, Will Gorski, Kala Dandekar, Sun, Riley, and Capheus. They discover their intimate connection throughout the course of the show and bond over the fact that they are rare extraordinary creatures. They go on a mission to save each other from being hunted by an organization that’s hell-bent on capturing them.

Through their newfound abilities as sensates, the cluster experiences sensations and emotions that the other members of the cluster are experiencing. They are also able to communicate with one another instantly, despite the distances and languages separating them. They utilize each other’s strengths and skills to get out of predicament situations.

This extremely high-minded sci-fi show broke all cultural barriers and dealt with them in a very clever way. The show takes you around the world, giving glimpses into many different cultures.

The creators of the show managed to deal with a lot of social issues that the world is still facing. Many important issues are highlighted such as how celebrities have to live double lives because of the pressures of showbiz. How people in third world countries suffer because they don’t have enough resources. Immigration problems, sexual orientation, depression are also on the list of topics.
