Government Relaunch Youth Laptop Program Rs. 10 Billion Budget
The federal government has decided to restart the laptop program for university students with a new budget of Rs 100 crore. Minister for Planning and Development Afsan Iqbal made the announcement at a ceremony in Islamabad a few days ago.
As part of the program, 100,000 laptops will be provided to students to increase students’ interest in Pakistan’s technology and his expanding IT industry, the federal minister said. Ahsan Iqbal said the National Bank of Pakistan (NBA) has also been commissioned to develop his leasing product of laptops so that all college students can buy them.
The Planning Minister added that as Pakistan has a young population, he may use information technology as one of his competitive advantages. About 60% of Pakistan’s 220 million people are between the ages of 15 and 29. Moreover, Pakistani youth has shown great interest and growth in his IT field in the last 5-6 years, and the local industry is growing more and more.

The government plans to distribute 100,000 of his laptops to eligible students under the Prime Minister’s Laptops scheme this year, according to SAPM.
