Pakistan and Turkey to Produce Drama Series on Saladin

Faiza Haq August 22, 2021

A joint venture by Turkey and Pakistan is in the bag. It is a new drama serial on the life of Saladin. Turkey’s owner of Akli films, Konuk has joined hands with Pakistan’s Ansari&Shah for this amazing project.

The Series

This phenomenal project will be a three part drama series. Further, it will depict both Turkish and Pakistani actors. Furthermore, Turkey is the country where the filming of this show will take place.

Blessing

Turkey’s producer Emre Konuk calls this venture a great blessing which he tweeted in his quote. He states that the drama will be beneficial ‘to our country and our artworld’.

A happy news on a blessed Friday night! Contract signed between Akli Films and Ansari&Shah Films about ‘Sultan Selahaddin Ayyubi’. May this international project, which will be prepared with the cooperation of Turkey and Pakistan, be beneficial to our country and our art world.

Pakistani actor and producer, Adnan Siddiqui of Ansari&Shah also stated in his caption of his Instagram post that this venture is a process to strengthen ties with Turkey. He exclaimed, ‘Taking our commitment to strengthen ties with Turkey further, we embark on a new chapter of this friendship that, we hope, would lead to exchange of fabulous ideas and talent. It’s a win win for our industries and our audience who should look forward some good content coming their way.’

Saladin

Now, who is Saladin?

Salahuddin Ayubi, popularly known in the West as Saladin, is a revered Muslim general who conquered Jerusalem in 1187. He was the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria and founder of the Ayyubid dynasty. He defeated a massive army of the Crusaders to re-capture Jerusalem in the Battle of Hattin. Thus, after 88 years, Saladin was able to seize control of Palestine from the Crusaders.

Conclusion

Thus, this series is hoped to be a ‘magnum opus’ in Adnan Siddiqui’s words – A great collaboration to produce a great work on the ‘warrior king’ Saladin. Will this series be the like the Ertugrul drama venture? We hope so. We wish that this drama series wins hearts and minds to make a deep connection between the fans of Turkey and Pakistan.
