Senior Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani has passed away
Those who raised the slogan of Pakistaniness in occupied Kashmir are no longer with us. Despite illness, the last days of life were spent in Indian captivity. He continued his struggle against Indian oppression by building a plywood wall.
Hurriyat leader Abdul Hameed Loon has confirmed that Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Gilani has passed away.
Syed Ali Gilani, the embodiment of determination, has long been the chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, an alliance of 26 Kashmiri political and social parties.
Earlier, he was a member of Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir and later founded his own party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.
In June last year, Syed Ali Gilani announced his separation from the All-Party Hurriyat Conference. In a detailed letter, he complained of not having contact during solitary confinement and captivity. In the letter, Syed Ali Gilani said that in view of the current situation, he was announcing his complete separation from the forum.
