Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain resigned from the National Assembly seat in the lower house of parliament on 4 October 2021. He is a member of the ruling party PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf). He announced his resignation on a short message from his Twitter handle.
Reasons for resignation
Aamir Liaquat’s Twitter message said, “Have sent my resignation from the National Assembly (NA). May Allah Almighty support Imran Khan and PTI. Allah Hafiz”. In another Tweet last year, he confessed his reasons for resignation. He stated that he is a helpless MNA (Member of National Assembly) of Karachi who is unable to resolve the load shedding issue for his citizens. Further, he added that he cannot bear to witness the suffering of the people of his constituency. Aamir Liaquat had made obvious his desire to resign last year. However, his resignation was rejected last year because he was an “asset” for PTI.
It should be noted that the popular TV host turned politician had issued numerous statements about how he felt representatives from Karachi were sidelined. Further, in 2018, the influential celebrity, complained that the newly appointed governor did not invite him to the Governor House with all of the MNAs and MPAs from Karachi. Apparently, Liaquat felt that his stringent views on the issues of Karachi were the reason. So, it is sad for PTI to see him resign from his seat.

Conclusion
Thus, the PTI leader dispatched his resignation in a letter to the NA secretariat this Sunday. He had joined PTI in March 2018. Then, he had won on a PTI ticket from NA-245 in the 2018 general elections. This is the second time the PTI MNA is resigning. He was held as a responsible leader for Karachi and was respected for raising his voice for the city. Therefore, it is indeed sad to see him go.
