Saudia Arabia Banned Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is prohibited in Saudi Arabia. The Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer contains an LGBTQ character, America Chavez, who is gay in the comics, according to the publication’s sources. The film was also rejected by the censor board. Homosexuality is illegal in Middle Eastern countries. Saudia Arabia Banned Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The film’s advance booking is no longer available in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or Qatar, according to the publication. However, they are available in the UAE, implying that the film will be released there. Previously, screenings of West Side Story and Eternals were halted in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

On May 6, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released. The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.

Saudia Arabia Banned Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The film is a sequel to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, which debuted Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme in 2016. While Scott Derrickson directed the first film, the sequel is directed by Sam Raimi. Who directed the original Spider-Man trilogy from 2002 to 2007?

Doctor Strange tries to contain the consequences of the spell he performed in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which tampered with the delicate fabric of space and time, in the teaser for Multiverse of Madness. Doctor Strange will pair up with Scarlet Witch AKA Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, in the film to solicit her assistance with the multiverse.

After being teased in No Way Home and the TV series Loki, Multiverse of Madness appears to be the first deep dive into the universe of the multiverse. On May 6, 2022, the film will be released.
